MR for HCC 11 Months ago Karma: 0
i have been doing lots of MR liver with gadolinium with excellent results on Arterial dominant phase. All of the cases were having lesions less than 2 cm size and were missed on Arterial MDCT. I want to share my experience in this regard .

Is there anyone doing regular Liver MR for HCC in Cirrhotic liver?
Who needs to be imaged on MR for HCC?
What are the results as compared to CT?

Well as it goes, MR is considered more sensitive than MDCT (app. 80% vs. 70% sensitivity) especially for <2cm lesions.
At our institution, we generally prefer MDCT for HCCA diagnosis, and reserve MR for problematic / equivocal lesions. I believe this to be the standard protocol in most other places.

Dr Asim, What are the kinds of patients that you have for HCC suspected diagnosis/screening. Do they all have Alpha fetoproteins prior to imaging?
Once diagnosed with HCC do these patients get ablation or embolization?
Any experience of using ferucarbotran apart from gadolinium.

Nice article dr Usman, here is another one
